Portrait Studies
Minimal portrait explorations I wanted to experiment with minimal portraits in both color and black and white. By making the faces relatively expressionless, I wanted to encourage the viewer to confront their own biases/perceptions and notice the process of viewing. Providing minimal context enables the viewer to create their own narrative for each piece based on their personal insights, further immersing them in the work. This self-awareness is intended to incite appreciation for each of the women depicted.
